Sarentino as main location and bright sunshine for the new Südtirol Skyrace

Sarentino, 30 June 2022 - It’s just under two months until the start of the Südtirol Ultra Skyrace on 26 and 27 August. This year, the main location for the race will be Sarentino, as three of the four distances end in the largest town of Val Sarentino. The fourth distance, the new Südtirol Skyrace, leads up Passo Pennes and impresses with magnificent spectacles of the sun.

The start of the 63 kilometres long Südtirol Skyrace with an elevation gain of 4490 is set for Friday, 26 August at 5:00 pm on Piazza Walther in Bolzano. The race runs across Renon to Forcella di Sarentino, then to Santa Croce di Lazfons and finally via Rifugio Forcella Vallaga to the finish on top of Passo di Pennes. The estimated time of arrival of the participants is Saturday morning. That means that the race will continue through the night and that everyone who has registered for this second longest leg of the Ultra Skyrace weekend can look forward to breathtaking spectacles of the sun.

Weather permitting, the participants will enjoy sunrise and sunrise. In such heights, these spectacles are mystical experiences that are sure to tempt one or the other runner to a quick photo stop.

Sarentino playing fields to take the place of Piazza Walther in Bolzano

This year, the centre of the racing weekend will not be Bolzano. Most of the events are taking place predominantly in Sarentino. The start of all four distances of the Südtirol Ultra Skyrace remains in the South Tyrolean capital. However, the participants in the Südtirol Ultra Skyrace (119 km/7850 m elevation gain), the Südtirol Sky Marathon (45 km/2750 m elevation gain) and the Südtirol Sky Trail (27 km/1880 m elevation gain) will be welcomed in the finish on the playing fields in Sarentino. The awards ceremony will also take place there late afternoon.
